Venue Information

The Second Annual World Conference on Humanitarian Studies will take place at Tufts University, Medford, MA, in the Greater Boston area. Most hotels in Cambridge and Arlington are close to the conference venue.

Directions to Campus

Most major conference events take place in the The Aidekman Arts Center (Talbot Avenue, Medford, MA 02155). The conference registration desk is also located in this building.

Driving Directions

Parking is free for registered conference participants. A parking pass will be issued when you arrive at the registration desk in Alumnae Lounge. When you arrive at Tufts campus, you may park in any space designated for a Tufts staff/faculty, commuter, or resident permit.


Public Transportation

If you are coming by subway, or "T", take the Red Line to Davis Square Station. Exit the Davis Square Station on the College Avenue side. You may take the #94 or #96 bus or walk 15 minutes along College Avenue to the Tufts campus.

If you board the bus, ask the driver to stop across from the Memorial Steps at Tufts University, just before the intersection of College and Boston Avenues. Continue south along College Avenue (when facing the Memorial Steps, head left) and take your second right onto Talbot Avenue. The Aidekman Arts Center will be on your immediate left.

If you walk, turn right out of the subway station and walk down College Avenue. After the traffic circle, continue to follow College Avenue until you reach Talbot Avenue. Turn left on Talbot Avenue; The Aidekman Arts Center will be on your immediate left.


Wireless Access

Conference participants will have access to Tufts’ wireless network in all conference rooms and on-campus accommodations. However, you must pre-register your computer. Before you come to Medford, please visit the Network Registration Page and fill out the form, selecting "Second World Humanitarian Conference" from the list. Your computer will be registered by our IT group and you’ll have wireless access as soon as you arrive.

Tufts University On-Campus Housing:

The deadline for reserving on-campus housing has passed. Cancellations received between May 18 & May 31 will be subject to a one-night cancellation fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after May 31.
